C&A:

This version of Charlie Christian’s Solo Flight guitar concerto may have been the very last time one of Charles’ solos were ever recorded.  The exact date of this broadcast is unknown – a recording of Rose Room from June 6 and a Stompin’ at the Savoy from sometime in the same month are the only other candidates for the distinction of last recording.  All three are from “Monte Proser Dance Carnival” broadcasts, the only gig that followed the “Minton/Monroe” sessions.

The same format of the two studio takes is retained here.  Charles was a bit more adventurous in several places on this last version;  in a few other parts some of the phrases have become routine with only minor variation.  It’s not known who did the actual recording but the broadcast was not recorded with much fidelity – it came from Boris Rose’s collection.

As on the other aircheck of the concerto, a simplified orchestral interpretation is included in the transcription.
