One Hour Mama 31 October 1939 mx 25511 (all takes)
Intros / Codas
|
C&A:
A slow song with no solos by Charlie Christian, but he can be heard in
single-string improvisation along with the ensemble on the intro and, on two
of the takes, on the coda. Four takes of
One Hour Mama
have been released from this Vocalion Records early session recorded during Hallows Eve.
mx 25511-W (rehearsal take)
This take is complete but shorter than the others due to its not having the
coda.
mx 25511-X (“master” take)
Four-bar intro by the ensemble including Charlie Christian; 64-bar vocal;
and four-bar tag by Charles with the ensemble.
mx 25511-y (breakdown)
This very short partial take begins breaking down halfway into the
introduction and is halted just as the singer utters her first words; ergo, intro only
– no vocal, no coda.
mx 25511-Z (alternate take)
The routine on this take is the same as 25511-X.
